The Adam Gilchrist Cricket Development Scholarship

Every now and then in your lifetime, an opportunity comes along which opens whole new vistas for you. I had one such opportunity when I was awarded a Big Brother Cricket Scholarship, and spent five months in England when I was still quite young. This experience taught me a lot about myself, and assisted me in my cricket development at a crucial time in my career.

I am really thrilled that I am now able, with the wonderful help of sponsors such as Nestle MILO, Puma, Kelly Travel and the Albion Hat Company, to offer such an opportunity to a young cricketer to spend an English summer playing with the Richmond Cricket Club in London. This was the club which hosted me, and I am confident that each player awarded the scholarship will gain immense value both on the field and off from their professional and dedicated personnel.

To date we have had scholarship winners from Western Australia (Reece O’Connell), Victoria (Ben Way) and New South Wales (Mitchell Power). We trust that these young players and all future recipients of the scholarship will flourish in their personal lives as well as in their cricket.
