The Captains' Walk at Cootamundra, New South Wales

You now have an opportunity to purchase a piece of very special memorabilia - a limited edition boxed set of glass decanter and two shot glasses, specially manufactured to raise funds for a special project at the place of my birth - Bellingen, New South Wales.

Sir Donald Bradman was born at Cootamundra, in south-western New South Wales. To commemorate his birthplace, the Cootamundra Municipal Council erected a bronze statue of his bust. The Council further agreed to establish a special walkway which could progressively accommodate commemorative busts of all Australian Test Cricket captains, and I have recently been honoured to have been asked to permit my bronze image to be cast and erected along with all the others who have captained the Australian Test Cricket team.

Only forty-two players have now had the honour of captaining this country, and having had that honour is one of my most treasured achievements.

As a special addition to the program developed by the Cootamundra Municipal Council, the organisers have also decided to offer an identical second bronze bust for erection in the actual birthplace of each of the captains. I was born in Bellingen, on the north coast of New South Wales, and that Council has agreed to erect a bronze bust in a beautiful little park within the town. I am greatly honoured to think that the people of Bellingen have seen fit to finance and erect this bronze statue!

To finance the project, the Bellingen Shire Council, together with a company called Creative Etch, have decided to produce a special limited-edition  commemorative etched wine/whisky decanter set for sale. This set comes as a Decanter and two glasses presented in a stained timber display case. Each set is individually numbered. Only two hundred of the beautifully boxed sets have been manufactured, and you can view a picture of the set at www.legendstrophies.com.au. The sets can be purchased on line at  info@legendstrophies.com.au, or direct from Chris Moran, the owner of Creative Etch at Bellingen, on 02 6655 0488

A photograph of the boxed set is shown here. The decanter has an image of me sandblasted on the front, together with my authentic signature. The glasses have a silhouette of my batting action. A certificate of authenticity accompanies each of the 200 sets.

As a special bonus to junior cricket in the Bellingen shire, all excess profits from the sale of the boxed sets will be used to develop local facilities and cricket development programs.

Apart from the wonderful honour bestowed upon me, this is a really great opportunity for you to own a special limited edition piece of memorabilia, and to help the development of junior cricket in northern New South Wales.
