Hambledon Cricket Club.
Known as the "Cradle of Cricket", Hambledon is a small village south west of London in rural Hampshire. Great matches were arranged on the nearby Broadhalfpenny Down, attended by thousands of spectators and gamblers. In the adjacent Bat and Ball Inn, the lawmakers gradually transformed the crude game into something resembling the modern game of cricket.
